With Phase 3 of the lockdown relaxation,   Sports Scotland has, following discussions with the Scottish Government sanctioned a tentative reintroduction to  amateur sport.

As regards athletics, there could be various combinations as long as no more than 5 families present and no more than 15 individuals.

SOCIAL DISTANCE RULES WHEN RUNNING

HOWEVER! WHERE THE LIKES OF RUNNING IS CONCERNED, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE DISTANCE SHOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 5 METRES WHERE YOU ARE FACING A RUNNER OR IN A RUNNERS SLIPSTREAM!!!!!

DECISION RE TRAINING

Within Scotland, West Dunbartonshire was harder hit for Covid 19 than most other areas. Hopefully, the Infection Levels have stabilised.

In addition, there are strict protocols which require to be implemented with regard to a return to training.

Given the above plus not having  the School Track as a base , our approach to implementing those protocols needs to be carefully considered.

After a great deal of thought and discussion amongst senior officials in the Club, we have RELUCTANTLY come to the decision to delay a return to training.

Whilst this decision is , no doubt, disappointing for you all, it is equally disappointing for all the coaches. All our coaches have been in the sport for more years than we care to remember and our lives have revolved around active participation in Athletics.

The situation will be closely monitored over the next few weeks and reviewed in the light of fresh information.

PROPOSAL

We have written out to those who normally participate in Highland Games with details of a virtual event. Positive responses have been received from a number of athletes. If any athletes would like to participate please do not hesitate to contact.

This is an excellent opportunity for setting a target and encouraging some training.

Now that sport has been given the go ahead, it is NOW the appropriate time to look  at some virtual events of our own and communicate these to you in preparation of a resumption of Club Activities.

The Club will be in contact re these events.

In addition, if any athlete wishes specific guidance with training, any parent of athletes under 18 and any athlete 18 and over is more than welcome to contact a coach for specific training advice.
